Service: Volunteer Screening

Keeping in mind that any organization providing programs and services to others has both a moral and legal obligation to appropriately examine potential volunteers, offers the Safety 1st Volunteer Screening program. This program aids volunteer and non-profit organizations and agencies in determining whether prospective volunteers have a pattern of criminal behavior that would make it unwise for them to be working with children or other vulnerable populations.

Through Safety 1st, the program provides clients with a compiled comprehensive report including criminal data from The National Background Directory, one of the largest private-sector criminal history databases in the nation.

Drawing data from multiple criminal record sources in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, the Directory has access to criminal data from criminal courts, state criminal record repositories, probation, prison parole and release files, sex offender registries and other government agencies, as well as additional proprietary criminal history data.

In addition, Safety 1st will provide information on a volunteer’s:

  • Previous residence address/addresses
  • Whether a Social Security Number has been issued
  • The individual’s maiden and/or married names associated with the SSN
  • Whether the volunteer’s SSN is currently being used by other individuals

Safety 1st was designed, created, and subsidized by National Background Data, LLC and is only available through a select group of professional background screening company affiliates, including
